Chery Automobile Co. Ltd was founded in 1997 and their product lines cover Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles and Minivans. With a registered capital of RMB. 3.68 billion, Chery have invested in two state-of-the art Manufacturing Plants, a Transmission Plant, an Automotive Engineering Research Institute, as well as an Automotive Planning and Design Institute.

Chery carries out extensive research and development and have over 3600 authorised, and over 2000 pending patents registered in their name.
Chery has obtained ISO 9001 & German TUV Rheinland ISO/TS16949 quality certifications.

Chery is China's largest exporter of passenger vehicles and has an annual production capacity of 900 000 vehicles & engines and 400 000 transmissions.

Globalisation is part of Chery's long term strategic planning and to date they operate 13 factories outside of China.  Their vehicles are distributed in over 70 countries worldwide.

Chery was launched in South Africa in 2008 and is backed up by McCarthy and Imperial's nationwide dealer network and service centres.
